Writing vs. Typing

Posted at 2:40 pm under 6th Grade

I was writing out thank-you and Christmas cards last night and kept getting frustrated at how bad my handwriting is and how long it was taking me.  I realized that I can type as fast as I’m thinking, but I can’t handwrite that fast.  It would be way faster for me to type everything rather than try to handwrite it.  How about you?  Do you type or write faster?  Does it matter to you?  Which skill do you think is more important?

Myself I prefer neither handwriting or typing. I just like talking or saying what i’m supposed to write or type.

I think i am pretty good at writing fast and typing but i have HORRIBBLEEE
handwriting – I write like I am writing with my left hand. MY mom will always be yelling at me because my handwriting is so bad, thats why I like typing better!

I think we should be learning both handwriting and typing because they are both important in life.

I would have to say typing. It is faster than wrtiting. Although you should do both writing and typing.
People tell me that I have really good handwriting, but I dont like to write half of the time anyway.

Elementary kids should try and do writing more than typing….but Middle School kids should focus more on typing because they have already learned how to write.

    Thank You!

I think my writing is faster then my typing. It really does not matter to me.I think writing is more important

For me I write faster than I type. That’s probably because i’m not very good ay typing yet. I think that if i practice a lot more I will be better at keyboarding. I personally think that writing is more important because all kids should learn how to do it, and hand written letters are nicer than typed ones.

That happens to me sometimes too. Sometimes when I have a good idea, and want to write it down I can’t write as fast as I think. I think handwriting is a bit more important than keyboarding because with keyboarding you can always delete, in hand writing you can’t.

I write much faster than I type and it’s more fun because i can write like a whole page in like a minute and type one in like 15 mins. so writing is better for me.

In my opinion I think they are both important. I think in some cases each one is better to know than the other, a person that works as a secretary and docter would be better at typing(my opinion). But if you are a teacher and you have to teach students to write then you have to be able to be able to do it clear and fast.I think handwriting is more important because for me its more commonly used.

Personally, I think that I can write faster than I can type because I’m still learning how to type. If I practice keyboarding a lot I think that I could be a pretty fast typer. I think that it is easer to write than type assignments because it takes me less time, and it goes a whole lot faster.

I think that writing is actually more important. It is really hard to belive how many people don’t have computers at home. Yeah e-mail is really big but I think that more people need to focus on their handwriting. It really takes a lot of meaning out of a letter if the writing is so sloppy you can hardly read it. But also you don’t type a thank you letter, I don’t know if it is more sincere but you just don’t. So I think you need good typing skills but handwriting is probably more important.

I like hand writing a lot better than typing because I can write a lot faster than I can type. I also can write as fast as my mind thinks and I can’t do that with typing. It takes me some time to write in cursive but that’s because I have to write neat. I LOVE writing in print because I don’t care if it’s neat or a little sloppy at least I get it done.

If I was going to write Christmas cards i would prefer writing. Typing is a way to make your bad hand writing good but writing is my thing. Even though I have bad hand writing I write anyway.

I think I’m good at both but mostly writing because when your writing your hands aren’t all over the place like when you’re typing. I also like drawing so I’m used to using a pencil.

Personally, I prefer writing. It takes me less time to write than it takes me to type. But it really doesn’t make a difference to me. When I have to type I will type, and when I have to write I will write.

I write faster then I type. I am best at printing. I think this is because I don’t have to worry about which finger I write a letter with. I think writing is more important than typing because you use writing more than typing.

I am very excited to be part of a blog experience. When asking the students around me about the class, they stated they loved it. When I asked them why, they said that it was because they needed help with their typing skills, plus it was a change from the other academics during the day.

Way to implement what you learned from training!

I love writing things out on paper when it is a REALLY important paper or letter. If it’s really important, I feel that I concentrate better on grammar/punctuation/spelling and all of that important stuff simply because it is my own handwriting. On the other hand, I love typing because I feel I can edit quicker. I am a KRA-Z backspacer when it comes to typing. If I want to send a daily message to someone, typing is my go-to-gal!

I have a hard time handwriting anything. I love to type and can seem to get things from my brain better that way. I’ve recently tried using dictation software, but have a hard time slowing my mouth down to say what I want to say. Things get too wordy when I speak it rather than when I type it. Typing is definitely my preference.
