Writing about Reading

Posted at 10:42 am under 6th Grade, Assignment, Keyboarding, Public

If you know me at all, you know that my favorite activity is reading…….not just any reading, though.  I want to read something REALLY good – something that draws me in and makes me want ignore ringing phones and any waiting household chore :-)   Tell me what you’re reading - would you recommend it?  Anything you’ve read lately that I should read?  Anything horrible that I SHOULDN’T read?

I’m currently reading something VERY light and not noteworthy.  Of course, I can’t remember the title anyway (I read at least 3 books/week, it’s hard to remember all the titles)!  The last book I read (actually listened to on CD on my commute) that I really liked was “Sammy’s House” by Kristin Gore (Al Gore’s daughter).  A nonfiction book that I LOVED was “Kindergarten Wars” by Alan Eisenstock.

 Anyway, chime in and share!

A good book to read if you are into fanstasy is Eragon and Eldest….Eldest the sequel is what I am reading right now. There is a lot of action in these stories and a lot of people I know like them. The librarian Mrs. E read Eragn and liked it but she has not had time to read Eldest but she can not wait until the third book comes out even though she has not read the second book.

I just finished reading The Ear, the Eye, and the Arm by Nancy Farmer. It is in the sixth grade battle of the books list this year. It is an adventure story that takes place hundreds of years in the future. Nancy Farmer’s writing style is sort of confusing, but I still liked the book quite a bit.

I just started a new book yesterday so I am not very far yet. The book I am reading is called Halfback Tough by Matt Christopher. The last book I read was Tackle Without a Team also by Matt Christopher. It was about a high school boy that got kicked off the football team because the coach found an illegal drug in is duffel bag. Now he has to figure out who planted the drug in is bag and why he or she did it.

Well my favorite series of books is the Warriors series. It is about four cat clans. There are at least 14 books in the series right now. They work in sets of six.
I also like the series Sisters Grimm but they haven’t had any new books out lately.
Right now i am currently reading Toad Rage. I highly recommend all these series.
There is no book that I have read which I did not like.

Well I am in Battle of the Books. So I am trying to read all of the books. One of them was The Ear the Eye and the Arm, I thought it was going to be horrible, but I found out that’s my new favorite book. So I would recommend that book to anyone who is looking for a good book.

The book i’m reading is called “Lilly’s Crossing.” I would recommend the book because it is a really good book. I haven’t gotten really far in it because I just started it not too long ago. I don’t think there are any really not good books that I have read.

one book i am reading is the ear the eye and the arm, which i would recommend. i would recomend anything by darren shan if you like horror/action books. also i am listenng to the audiobook of i am legend. also i WOULD NOT SUGGEST reading anything written by brian jacues, the books after the first three get repetitive. the last one i read was the last one i will ever read. Lastly DO NOT READ Where the Red Fern Grows!!!?!?!?!?!? What kind of kid runs with an axe and spears himself, and of course the dogs die.

What a great topic, Mrs. Olson!
I am currently reading The Higher Power of Lucky…it won the Newberry Medal. Just starting, someone told me about it. But, if I were to suggest ONE read for middle school students it is called TTYL by Lauren Myrcle (sp?). This is a novel written in all IM format! It’s about three girls who a friends. As you may guess, readers learn of the three girls’ lives through IM only, how cool! There are follow up books called L8R, G8R and TTFN…all IM format. Check out your library at school. If it’s not there, go to the public library (i know it’s there!)

one of the books i just started is a book that cat warriors or something like that. it’s about a cat who was a kittypet (house cat) and leaves to go join a clan in the woods. i’m still only on the first one. if you read the first one, let me tell you, there are many many names! but it really is a good book but they are shorter than usual.
